News Update Floods hit parts of Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines - Nearly 80 families have been evacuated from two villages in Taguig City due to waist-deep floods caused by heavy rains on Tuesday night.
A report by dzMM radio said that 47 families from Barangay Lower Bicutan and 30 families in Barangay Bagong Bayan were evacuated to higher ground due to flooding.
In a bulletin issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) 6 a.m. today, portions of Pasig City, Paranaque City and Muntinlupa City also experienced flooding due to heavy rains on Tuesday night.
The NDRRMC said a street in Glorietta Subdivision in Barangay Kaniogan and roads in barangays 180 and 183 were not passable to light to medium vehicles due to knee-deep and 20-inch floods.
The 4th Estate and Sucat Road in Paranaque City are also not passable due to knee-deep floodwater and are not also passable to light to medium vehicles.
The street in front of Muntinlupa City Hall, Summit Circle, Pepsi Tunasan area and the Alabang viaduct going to South Expressway were also impassable to light and medium vehicles because of floods.
The NDRRMC said its units in Metro Manila will be on alert as tropical storm Chedeng is expected to intensify into a typhoon and hit the capital region with heavy rains during the weekend. - By Angelo L. Gutierrez
