News Update PlayStation Network users warned on credit card fraud

MANILA, Philippines – Sony is wary of another threat that may hit the PlayStation Network (PSN) kingdom—one so threatening it can actually drain its users’ bank accounts.
Kaspersky Lab, a developer of content security and threat management, has urged PSN users to keep their credit card information safe and asked them to be mindful of the purchases especially on those they may not have made.
The company particularly warned users on emails claiming to be Sony or any of its affiliate firms that ask for personal information.
Kaspersky Lab also urged users to change their passwords used on PSN, especially if these have been used somewhere else.
The issue came in the wake of last month’s incident where hackers stole nearly all types of user information about the PSN users.
The unknown hackers reportedly preyed on 70 million PSN users who used their PlayStation (PS3) consoles to play online games and watch films, among others.
Kaspersky pressures Sony Kaspersky Lab also criticized Sony for not giving much effort to secure its users’ data. Networks of game consoles should live up to the trust that they have developed with users through the years, it stressed.
“Console gaming on platforms such as the Playstation and Xbox are incredibly successful in large part due to the networks behind them. Users can purchase games, content, and access to third party services such as Netflix,” Kaspersky Lab junior malware analyst Timothy Armstrong said.
On the possibility that credit card information could be stolen as well, Sony vowed to “extensively” probe the matter.
It said it will rebuild the network while undergoing security audits
