DAVAO CITY -- A former employee of the environment department in Davao is facing malversation charges for allegedly using government property for personal use and not returning more than P30,000 worth of items.
Charged with violation of Article 217 of the Revised Penal Code, otherwise known as malversation of public properties, was Ralph Anthony Taladua, a casual employee of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources' (DENR) Southern Mindanao Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project (SMICZMP).
The charges were filed against him after Prosecutor Nanette Lemana found probable cause to hold him for court trial based on the affidavit of Chona Palermo, property custodian of DENR-SMICZMP.
Court records showed that Taladua, who works as computer aided design operator, received the office items worth P36,290 in separate incidents. He used them but failed to return the items to the office after the termination of his service contract.
