News Update Christmas treat for poor families

CEBU CITY, Philippines - Seeing the importance of Noche Buena during the Christmas Eve, the World Vision, an international organization that help poor families' worldwide has recently distributed more than 30,000 Noche Buena gifts nationwide where 4,200 were distributed here. The Noche Buena gift is inline with the Noche Buena caravan that provides a beneficiary-family with a Christmas Eve meal through donations. The said gift contains spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce, a can of fruit salad, a carton of cream, a bottle of sandwich spread, cheese, a pack of milk, coffee, and powdered juice. Ferdie Mendez, in-charge for Cebu Public in Ministry disclosed that the caravan which encourages P1,000 volunteered donations has helped 4,200 families here celebrate Christmas with meal on their tables. Moreover, portion of the donations were pooled to allow less fortunate communities to hold a Christmas party. P3.5-M FOR PARK REHAB PROJECT TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Philippines (PNA) - The President Garcia Park at the New Capitol Site here will soon undergo a P3.5-million spruce-up in preparation for the commemoration of the 40th death anniversary of President Carlos P. Garcia on June 14, next year. Rep. Erico Aumentado (2nd District, Bohol) said he already got the assurance of Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri for a P2 million outlay from his 2011 Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) for the improvement of the park named after the late President from Talibon, Bohol.

Aumentado added that Sen. Vicente "Tito" Sotto III will contribute P1.2 million from his PDAF or from any other source for the same project. The congressman will put up P300,000 from his own PDAF for labor expenses to meet the total project cost of about P3.5 million. This will make the President Garcia Park a tourist drawer for this city. The spruce-up project will include installation of solar led lights. Aumentado explained that it "may be quite costly upon acquisition, but will cut costs in the long run as these are solar powered-no power bills to pay." Civil works will start soon to catch up with the inauguration schedule wherein Zubiri and Sotto have been invited to attend during the commemoration of the death of the first Boholano to make it to Malacañang.
