DAVAO CITY – Six minor children died in separate fire and landslide incidents in Compostela Valley and Davao de Sur provinces on Wednesday morning, the police said.
Compostela Valley police chief Aaron Aquino said four children were killed when a fire hit their home on Wednesday morning in Maco town, Compostela Valley province.
Aquino identified the fatalities as siblings Lemyel, 9; Vinise, 8; Dave, 7; and, Dolly Jr., 4; all surnamed Bellones.
The police official said the children's father, Dolly, asked one of his children to boil water around 4 a.m. and went to a mining site where he works.
"He left his children and went to the mining area but when he returned, his house was already burned," said Aquino of Dolly, adding that the fire lasted for about an hour.
He said the victim's hut was totally burned.
