News Update Anti-measles drive extended until May 13

THE Department of Health (DOH) in Eastern Visayas hopes to immunize at least 95 percent of 800,000 children in the region with anti-measles vaccines before the deadline set by the department.
Health regional director Edgardo Gonzaga said the department has extended its door-to-door anti-measles campaign until May 13 following the Holy Week break, which delayed the implementation of the program for at least five days.
“We are trying to reach 95 percent. But it is better if we attain 100 percent. Still, it remains to be seen because many of the areas in the region needs to be visited and revisited by our health personnel,” Gonzaga said.
The DOH earlier assigned personnel in every locality to conduct house-to-house visits to inform parents and immunize their children against measles.
