News Update Congressman hurt as bus hits his van in Dagupan

MANILA, Philippines - A congressman and three more people were hurt after a passenger bus rammed their van in Pangasinan province, before dawn today.

Pangasinan Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil suffered contusions in the head and a blackeye after a Dagupan bus with plate numbers DAS 578 rammed his Nissan Urvan (ZET 264) along a highway in Bugallon town around 1 a.m.

Bataoil's 18-year-old daughter Angela, nephew Police Officer 3 Gene Evangalista and driver were also hurt and rushed to a hospital in Dagupan City.

The congressman has been allowed to check out of the hospital, a dzMM radio report said. The report added that Bataoil's driver was still under observation.

Police said the Dagupan bus was overtaking a motorcycle along the highway when it hit the congressman's vehicle. The victims were returning from a fiesta celebration in Aguilar town when the incident happened.
