MANILA, Philippines – President Aquino went out to see the reunion concert of the Hotdog band Monday night with his new date.
Very reliable sources said the President fetched his date from one of the villages in Pasig City for the concert at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
The sources disclosed the date was an old friend of the President but refused to divulge her name. “They’ve known each other from way back,” the sources said.
The sources said it would be better not to name the date to protect her privacy.
Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office Secretary Ricky Carandang said he saw the President with his date because he was also at the concert but failed to get her name.
“I saw her. I didn't meet her. I didn't know who she was. We were with a large group of people. I was not in the same people. I didn't have a chance to meet her or talk to her. I arrived separately so I suppose he introduced her to everyone else,” Carandang told reporters.
Carandang said the President and his date shared a table with Budget Secretary Florencio Abad and his family, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. Cristino Naguiat Jr. and Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras and their wives and former Sen. Manuel Roxas II.
Carandang said it was the first time for him to see the President’s new date.
“I think they all had a good time,” Carandang said.
The sources said the President and his date arrived at the hotel around 7 p.m. and had dinner at a Japanese restaurant before going to the concert.
The President used to date stockbroker Maria Elena Lopez but the two had reportedly parted ways. - By Aurea Calica
