News Update PAGASA: 'Bebeng' weakens after Aurora landfall

Tropical Storm Bebeng (Aere) weakened after making landfall over Northern Casiguran, Aurora, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Monday.
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said Bebeng was 80 km south southeast of Tuguegarao City or 55 km north northwest of Casiguran, Aurora as of 10 a.m, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, and was moving north northwest at 15 kph.
PAGASA said it is expected to be 90 km southwest of Basco, Batanes Tuesday morning; 240 km northeast of Itbayat Wednesday morning; and 580 km northeast of Itbayat Thursday morning.

Still, PAGASA warned that Bebeng is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains over the rest of Southern Luzon and of the Visayas.
It also reminded residents in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes under Storm Signals 1 and 2 to take precautions against possible flashfloods and landslides. — RSJ
