The peso exchange rate stands at P43.27 to the US dollar, the closing rate last Friday at the Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corp. (PDEx). The weighted average rate stands at P43.237.
72-Mw Plant For Copper Mine
A 72-megawatt (MW) coal power plant will be built by Toledo Power Company (TPC) purposively to cater to the electricity requirements of Carmen copper mine in Cebu.
The facility will be underpinned by a 12-year electric power purchase agreement (EPPA) between project developer TPC and off-taker Carmen Copper Corporation. The mining corporate vehicle is a wholly-owned subsidiary of publicly-listed Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation. Upon the facility's scheduled commissioning by December 2014, the supply pact will guarantee the supply of 60 megawatts for the mining firm's operations. (MMV)
M.W.C. Metrology Center Gains Accreditation
Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWC) was recently recognized with the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation for its Metrology Center. The center's meter calibration laboratory has been accredited based on its compliance with international standards for competence of testing and calibration laboratories. All water meters installed in customers homes and other facilities go through stringent testing an calibration in Manila Water's Metrology Center before installation, to assure accuracy in registering water consumption. To qualify for accreditation, the Center and its laboratories underwent renovation while totally changing the process for testing meters. It also acquired new test benches with state-of-the-art technology to be able to comply with globally recognized standards.
Nielsen Tests Globe Tattoo Performance
A Globe Telecom-commissioned network test, which Nielsen Company (Philippines), Inc. conducted, showed that Tattoo, the former's flagship broadband brand, outperformed two key competitors in 250 pre-paid Internet households. Nielsen randomly selected test subjects in urban areas in the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao - males and females aged 13-65 years old from ABCD homes who accessed the Internet using any device in the four weeks prior to February 1, 2012.(EVA)
