..CEBU Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia is set to leave for Macau to speak during the Asia Entrepreneurship Forum (AEF) on Sept. 19 to 21.
But the governor’s trip to the Macau Special Administrative Region of China will depend on the Sandiganbayan, which issued a hold departure order against Garcia and seven others in relation to graft and technical malversation charges arising from Capitol’s purchase of the Balili property in 2008.
Lawyer Cristina Codilla-Frasco, the governor’s daughter and counsel, told Sun.Star Cebu that they will file a motion for reconsideration of the hold-departure order.
She said they were not able to file the motion earlier because of the holidays.
The governor also intends to go to Rome, Italy in October to attend the canonization of Pedro Calungsod.
Capitol Executive Secretary Elizabeth Francia said Garcia was invited to speak on Sept. 20 at the AEF.
The AEF will gather entrepreneurs, leaders in government and the academe in Asia to share experiences and insights, as well as identify challenges and problems related to entrepreneurship.
About 500 of Asia’s top entrepreneurs are expected to attend the AEF.
