Relocating Squatters

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino III allocates a total of Php 50 billion to relocate squatters/informal settlers from Metro Manila's waterways and danger zones. Hurry! Out of harm's way before another deluge comes! * * * The relocation to be led by DILG targets some 100,000 families in five years, or 20,000 families a year. Spare them - and others - from recurring floods. * * * The government says its priority is to move out 30,000 families from esteros. Aha, that should solve the case of the missing esteros. * * * DPWH Sec. Rogelio Singson adds that the President also ordered him to blast illegal fish pens and other structures along Manila Bay and other parts of Central Luzon. Yes, blast those obstructions that have turned us into Waterworld. * * * Storm "Helen" aggravates the southwest monsoon (Hanging Habagat), bringing rains and destruction over Luzon and the Visayas, reports PAG-ASA Weather Division chief Robert Sawi. Helen of (Des)troy made us more "sawi." Tsk-tsk! * * * P-Noy nips brewing PAG-ASA "storm" over suspended subsistence and other allowances of weather forecasters. Help and save them from economic drowning - so they can help us track storms. * * * Business leaders from across Mindanao are being urged by the government to take an active stance in helping save the South from environmental degradation due to logging and mining . Wake up folks before "paradise" is lost. * * * Meanwhile, the President reviews the "long" shortlist of eight nominees for chief Justice submitted by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), with Acting CJ Antonio Carpio leading the list and dark horses, including a lady justice, within view. For whom will P-Noy's heart toll? Abangan!
