Provincial Chorale

.. LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PNA) - The Pangasinan Provincial Chorale (PPC) has been chosen as one of the eight finalists to the Government Choral Competition slated September 17, at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City. Sponsored by the Civil Service Commission in celebration of its 112th anniversary, the competition will pit two finalists each from Luzon, the Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region in a grand competition. The PPC, one of two finalists from Luzon, is composed of talented employees of the Pangasinan provincial government. PPC president Ferlynor Aranda said that as a manifestation of support for PPC's participation in the contest, Governor Amado T. Espino Jr., through the office of Provincial Administrator Rafael F. Baraan, has issued a memorandum to all chiefs of offices and hospitals excusing the members of the PPC from their regular work schedule for them to attend their scheduled practices. Aranda also noted that the formal choral workshop done by Choirmaster of Philippine Madrigal Singers Mark Anthony A. Carpio last July has enhanced the vocal potentials and confidence of the choir members. PPC will perform three chorale pieces during 12-minute performance: a theme-inspired (Kawani: Ikaw ay Isang Lingkod Bayani) piece entitled "Ikaw ay Bayani" composed by Noel Cabangon; and second and third are Pangasinan vernacular compositions "Malinac Lay Labi" and "Asin." Renowned choral experts and musical personalities from the music industry will be identified by the CSC as members of the board of jury during the competition. ..
