City Government unveils P4.3-M bridge projects

THE City Government has unveiled three bridges made of steel and cement worth P4.3 million at three sitios in the village of Vitali, east of Zamboanga City. The three bridges, built by a private contractor, were unveiled on Tuesday one after the other by Mayor Celso Lobregat along with other City Government officials. The bridges were constructed at sitios Calle Posporo, SPDA, and Tamion, all far-flung areas with about three to four kilometers outside the center of Vitali village, which is one of the trading centers of Zamboanga City. Vitali's main products are crabs and prawns, as well as other agricultural crops like rice, corn, coconuts, and root crops. The construction of the three bridges is seen to enhance the delivery of basic government services in the area, as well as hasten the transport of farm products to the market. The construction of the three bridges has brought to a total of P131 million worth of infrastructure projects his administration has implemented over the last six years in the village of Vitali, according to Lobregat. Of the total amount, Lobregat said that P11.6 million worth of projects were implemented in 2007, P8.6 million in 2008, P20.5 million in 2009, P27.8 million in 2010, P10.9 million in 2011 and P22.7 million in 2012, excluding the P2 million box culvert and slope protection projects yet to be implemented this year.
