DUMAGUETE CITY - In support of President Benigno S. Aquino's III campaign to create a more friendly investment environment in each province, this city, in partnership with concerned government institutions and private organizations has launched a Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) project recently. The project was launched at the Sanggunian Session Hall, with officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and representatives from the business sector attending. DTI 7 Information Officer May Liza Sevilla said that the BOSS will be an all-in-one venue housing mandatory government agencies in charge of issuing business permits, licenses and registrations, among others, to companies. "This project aims to cut down the time, money and effort usually needed to secure or renew business permits and allows enterprises to complete all business requirements all at one time," said Sevilla. She added that all business starters and expanders are "highly encouraged" to avail of the services to maximize their time and effort. The establishment of the BOSS project is an offshoot of the partnership forged by the City of Dumaguete with the Negros Oriental provincial government, Negros Oriental Business Development Foundation (NOBDF), Negros Oriental Investment Promotion Center (NOIPC), Negros
Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI), and Department of Trade and Industry, in collaboration with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, PAG-IBIG, PHILHEALTH and the Social Security System. In addition, the DTI7 official also cited that the creation and launching of the BOSS in this city is seen as a relevant step towards sustaining employment, which is foremost in President Aquino's agenda to create a friendly investment environment in each province. Sevilla disclosed that the BOSS project is expected to reduce major economic concerns in the country which include red tape, among others
