PILAR, Cebu - To support the rural employment project of this town, the Region 7 office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) has disbursed P326, 025 as funding for an agro-forestry development venture here. DoLE7 Regional Director Elias A. Cayanong said the project is in support of the rural employment project in the town's Brgy. Imelda where members of an organization of upland farmers, Pagtambayayong Alang sa Gimbuhaton ug Lakang Aron Ugma-damlag Magmauswagon (PAGLAUM) are expected to directly benefit from said project.
"Some 120 upland farmers and their families will benefit from this endeavor," he said. Of the total members, 63 are holders of a Protected Area Community Based Resource Management Agreement (PACBRMA), which is a tenurial instrument in protected area. Moreover, Cayanong explained that the agro-forestry development project is part of the President's 22-Point Labor and Employment Agenda which seeks to promote rural employment by providing livelihood assistance to informal sector workers, through the DoLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) which provides capacity building for livelihood formation, enhancement and restoration.
