The death toll from typhoon "Juan" (Megi) rose to 28 as of Saturday evening, with the latest recorded fatalities coming from Isabela province.
In its 6 p.m. update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) also said the damage to property rose to P8.318 billion.
At least 10 road sections in Northern Luzon remained closed to traffic, it added.
On the other hand, NDRMMC said residents in Bicol and Cagayan Valley have been warned to prepare for tropical depression "Katring."
"[Katring] will not be as strong as Typhoon 'Juan' and communities in the Bicol and Cagayan Valley areas were advised to prepare accordingly," it said.
NDRRMC identified the latest fatalities as Jose Mallano, 58, and Cayetano Yoma, 62, both of Feli village in Maconacon town—one of the hardest hit areas.
Mallano died due to drowning while Yoma was hit by a coconut tree.
At least 39 were reported injured while four remained missing.
"Juan" affected 385,585 families or 1,831,799 people. Of these, 84,478 families or 399,444 people are being served in 109 evacuation centers.
NDRRMC said "Juan" destroyed 26,235 houses and damaged 85,589 more.
Of the P8.318-billion damage to property, P8.223 billion was to agriculture and P94.17 million to infrastructure.
In terms of damage to agriculture, Ilocos ranked first with P2.921 billion; Cagayan Valley ranked second with P1.652 billion; and Central Luzon was third with P1.285 billion. Cordillera incurred P1.243 billion in damage.
The 10 road sections still closed to traffic are all in the Cordillera region. They include:portions of Itogon-Dalupirip Road in Benguet; parts of Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Road, Bokiawan Wangwang section; Banaue-Mayoyao-Alfonso Lista and Isabela Boundary Road; Nueva Vizcaya-Ifugao Road-Mt.
