News Update DoLE gives jobs to 100 in Bulusan

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) has earmarked P400,000 to fund its emergency employment program in Sorsogon to hire 100 of its residents, who lost their jobs after the recent volcanic activity of Mt. Bulusan. DoLE-Region 5 Regional Director Attorney Alvin Villamor said in a statement yesterday that the project, will be used to employ residents, from the municipalities of Juban, Irosin, and Casiguran, which have been most affected by the ash fall of Mount Bulusan. The project, which started last December 1, which will benefit workers from the agricultural and the fisheries sector. The selected workers will be employed by DoLE-Region 5 for 22 days to clear main roads and government infrastructure from volcanic debris. Each laborer will receive at least 180 pesos per day.
