News Update Execs urged to think twice on appointing allies

THE Civil Service Commission (CSC) in Eastern Visayas called on local officials to think twice before appointing their political allies who lost in the previous election.
This, after the one-year election ban for the appointment of those who lost in the May 10, 2010 elections for any position in the government expired Tuesday.
Regional director of the CSC, lawyer David Cabanag Jr., said appointing authorities should, as much as possible, appoint only those who are qualified and eligible to hold government and non-career positions.
“(Still there are) no prohibitions so they can now be appointed depending upon the discretion of the appointing authorities, but better if they should pass the qualification standards,” he said in a radio interview aired over DyDW.
