News Update NDRRMC: ‘Bebeng’ death toll reaches 24

Tropical storm “Bebeng" has left at least 24 people dead and thousands of families displaced as of Tuesday night, said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in its latest report.
The fatalities included 12-year-old Pablo Sendanan of Buga, Libon, Albay, who died of a snake bite, and 12-year-old Virginia Solano of Baliwag Viejo, Minabalac, Camarines Sur, who died of a heart attack.
The storm left at least five injured, including two in Northern Samar, one in Albay, and another in Camarines Norte.
Meanwhile, still missing is Agmeti Condat, 66, of Tiwi, Albay.
By NDRRMC’s count, "Bebeng" affected at least 40,286 families – or 209,621 individuals in 293 villages in 40 towns, five cities and 10 provinces.
Some 6,409 people are still in 35 evacuation centers.
Property damage amounted to some 7,245 hectares of corn, rice, and crops. Losses were estimated at P117.825 million.
At least four houses were destroyed, and 37 damaged by a tornado in Calumpit, Bulacan.
Power in affected provinces have been restored as of Tuesday night, the NDRRMC said.
Water facilities in Albay and communication lines in Camarines Sur and Albay have been restored as well.
Roads and bridges in heavily affected areas are now passable except the Itogon-Dalupirip Road in Benguet and Albay West Coast Road, particularly the Talin-Talin and Apod sections. — AY/PE/VS
