News Update PH named "The Social Networking Capital of the World" says financial news site; 9 of 10 online Pinoys are on Facebook

inancial news site 24/7 Wall St. reported last week that nine out of 10 online Filipinos are on the social networking site Facebook, reports GMA News Online.

The article entitled "The Ten Nations Where Facebook Rules The Internet" said more Filipinos use Facebook than Google, with a penetration rate of 93.9 percent. Photo sharing has also increased by 46 percent in one year, mostly due to Facebook.

With a 95 percent rate in social network penetration, the Philippines has been called "The Social Networking Capital of the World," according to 24/7 Wall St. The article also said the Philippines has a Twitter penetration rate of 16.1 percent.

Following the Philippines are Israel (91 percent), Turkey (90.9 percent) and Chile (90.2 percent). 24/7 Wall St. used data from comScore, Inside Facebook, New Media Trend Watch, and ZDNet, reports GMA News Online.
