WASHINGTON - VISITING Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean met his United States counterpart Robert Gates at the Pentagon on Tuesday, during which they reaffirmed the strong defence ties between the two countries.
'During their meeting, Mr Teo and Dr Gates discussed issues of regional and global interest, and reaffirmed the excellent relationship between Singapore and the US, which is based on shared strategic perspectives and longstanding military cooperation,' Singapore's Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
Mr Teo, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, also met other top defence and security officials.
Mr Teo is on a four-day visit to the US capital. On Monday, he delivered a speech on regional security and strategic concerns, and met US-based Singaporeans at a reception.
