THE boss of a corporate services firm has been fined $21,000 for lodging false addresses of foreign directors with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (Acra).
Ragini Dhanvantray, 45, managing director of Rivkin Consultancy, pleaded guilty last Wednesday to the five charges of authorising false lodgements.
She was fined $7,000 on each of three charges. Two similar charges were taken into consideration for the purposes of sentencing.
Ragini had named herself as the local director in five companies at the request of foreign directors who were not residing in Singapore.
This was to meet requirements of the Companies Act, which stipulates that every company must have at least one director ordinarily resident in Singapore.
On Nov 14, 2008, a Rivkin employee changed the residential addresses of the foreign directors of these companies to Rivkin's registered office address in Cecil Street.
