MANILA, Philippines – Tropical depression “Domeng” might intensify and become a storm, threatening to hit northern Luzon within the week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported today.
In a radio interview, Pagasa forecaster Elvie Enriquez said the weather disturbance might merge with a low pressure area and make landfall tomorrow or on Friday.
She, however, said that “Domeng, which is estimated at 460 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, has yet to affect the country.
It is expected to move northwest of the country, the weather bureau added.
In its latest weather bulletin, Pagasa said as of 2 a.m. today, “Domeng” packs maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center. - By Dennis Carcamo
