News Update PRO-CAR Gets Guns, Equipment

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet - Director-General Raul Bacalzo, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, turned over the other day firearms and civil disturbance management equipment to the Police Regional Office in the Cordillera Administrative Region (PNP-CAR). Bacalzo said it was part of the integrated transformation program (ITP) to help improve their efforts in curbing criminality and instilling peace. He reminded all commissioned and non-commissioned police officers to embark on seminars to "help improve foundations of force as well as bring back discipline and decency in the uniformed service." (Dexter A. See) Baby Rescued MARIVELES, Bataan - Police rescued a baby girl unharmed from her alleged kidnapper on Wednesday night in Zone 5, Barangay Camaya, this town. Senior Superintendent Arnold D. Gunnacao, Bataan police director, said the baby had been returned to her mother. Supt. Romell Velasco, chief of police of this town, said he and his men rescued the victim from 22-year-old suspect Romnick Camansi of Bonifacio, Mariveles town. Gunnacao said Camansi was immediately subdued and overpowered by his men in a swift anti-kidnapping operation in his hideout in Camaya. He said Camansi allegedly took the baby from her nanny, Glowin Manayan. Velasco said Camansi is the former live-in partner of the baby's mother. (Mar T. Supnad)
