TAGUM CITY, Philippines (PIA) - Heralded by Christmas songs and jingles of children's choir and brass quintet, the 106.63-foot Holiday Tree of Tagum City was lighted up last Nov. 16, one month before the Misa de Gallo. Together with other local government officials, Tagum City Mayor Rey T. Uy turned on the series of Christmas lights wrapping the hexagonal-shape giant Christmas tree made of thin steel and wires, hoisted at the foreground of the Freedom Park located at the back of the city hall.
Upon lighting, the Holiday Tree burst into brightness amid 100 angel-costumed children carrying lighted candles which event organizers called as symbol of enlightenment among the people living in harmony with each other, in the city. The tree gets its brightness from the 253,440 total number of bulbs in red, green and blue colors, and from the 2,000 meters of flexy lights of red, green and yellow color combination. Among the cheering crowd of people from all walks of life was the delegation from the Chinese Embassy headed by Wu Chian Hua, secretary of the Consul General of the Embassy of People's Republic of China
