Water in the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City reached the spilling level of 80.15 meters on Monday evening, prompting the release of water into the Tullahan River.
According to dzMM, this will cause flooding in areas in Quezon City. Flooding is expected in Greater Fairview, North Fairview, Novaliches, Gulod, San Bartolome, Santa Monica, and Sta. Lucia. The cities of Valenzuela and Malabon, which are along the Tullahan River will also be flooded, the report said.
The La Mesa Dam previously reached spilling levels early Monday morning but the water level went down during the day.
Meanwhile, continuous rains have caused flooding along Araneta, E.Rodriguez, and Quezon Avenues in Quezon City rendering them unpassable, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino said in a radio interview. He said the roads are more prone to flooding because of the "unusual" rains in the past three weeks.
He added it would be better for motorists to just stay home or to stay off the road because of the floods and hevay traffic.
According to the MMDA Twitter account, portions of Araneta Ave. and Commonwealth Ave. in Quezon City and Rizal Avenue in Manila are impassable to traffic because of flooding there.
