National Hospital Week

MANILA, Philippines - The observance of National Hospital Week dates back to 1993 when Presidential Proclamation No. 181 declared August 6-12 as a week-long celebration to promote awareness on health programs of hospitals as centers of wellness in the country. The Department of Health (DOH), in partnership with the Philippine Hospital Association, will conduct various health-related activities such as blood donation, free screening services, and other routine laboratory examinations. There will be exhibits and lectures to encourage the community to partner with hospitals in a campaign for a healthy society. Our public hospitals are challenged with the operational costs of maintaining the quality of their facilities and services. With collaboration and collective efforts, the DOH has been able to find creative ways of meeting these challenges. The observance of National Health Week will be an opportunity to showcase these efforts that promote the health of Filipinos. We greet the Philippine Hospital Association led by its President, Dr. Bu C. Castro, Vice President for Luzon Dr. Rodolfo P. Ante, Vice President for Visayas Dr. Winifreda B. Cagulada, Vice President for Mindanao Dr. Conrado M. Braña Jr., and National Secretary Dr. Janet M. Tan, and the Department of Health led by Secretary Enrique T. Ona, Undersecretaries Dr. David J. Lozada Jr., Dr. Nemesio T. Gako, Dr. Teodoro J. Herbosa and Dr. Gerardo V. Bayugo, and their partners in both the public and private sectors, in continually innovating our government and private hospital facilities into centers of wellness, excellence, and efficient service. CONGRATULATIONS AND MABUHAY!
