Singaporean gamers got their first hands on experience with the much awaited StarCraft II game at

VISITORS to the start of gaming convention Licence2Play yesterday were among the first in the world to try their hands at the real-time strategy game StarCraft II: Wings Of Liberty, ahead of its international release on July 27.
The much-anticipated sequel to the original and hugely popular StarCraft game, which was released in 1998, will also be available for pre-order at the event.
Seasoned StarCraft player Sim Qi Shen, 29, who was there to try the new game, felt 'right at home' with the new instalment.
'There are big improvements in the graphics. The new game also retains the gameplay that made the first StarCraft so great,' said the recent graduate.
Now in its second year, the convention offers the latest gaming innovations and product offerings for gamers. Also available for test runs are a range of television sets from Samsung that can convert anything from 2-D to 3-D just by pressing a few buttons.
The Singapore leg of two international tournaments will also be played out - The New Paper Cyber Challenge, and the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association's Heroes Of Newerth tournament. The winners of the latter will go on to represent Singapore in a gaming event at the Shanghai World Expo in August and at the Digital Youth Award competition in Sweden in November.
