News update Four suspects being pursued in the killing of massacre witness

Police are now in hot pursuit against four alleged employees of the powerful Ampatuan clan who were tagged as the killers of 'Jessie,' a self-confessed participant and possible witness in the November 23 massacre in Maguindanao province.

Two witnesses in the killing of Suwaib Upham also known as ’Jessie’ are already in the custody of authorities in Maguindanao, lawyer Harry Roque said in a press conference in Manila.

"May hawak na dalawang testigo ang CIDG-ARMM (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) na may [mga] written statement," Roque said.

(The CIDG-ARMM already have two witnesses in its custody.)

It was Senior Superintendent Elmo Francis Sarona from the CIDG office in Camp Crame, who updated him about the case, Roque said.

The suspects served as militiamen under the supervision of the Ampatuans, Roque added.

"Ayon sa witnesses, kilalang empleyado ng mga Ampatuan yung mga suspek," Roque said. He did not identify the four suspects.

(According to witnesses, the suspects are known employees of the Ampatuans.)

With this development, Roque said the police has junked the love triangle angle in the death of Jessie. - RSJ, RJAB Jr.
