Police Director Roberto Rosales, NCRPO chief, said the installation of CCTV cameras in all parts of the 16 cities and one town in the metropolis will complement the recent completion of the installation of Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking device in all mobile cars in Metro Manila.

''The use of technology will definitely have positive impact in addressing criminality, addressing terrorism and insurgency,'' said Rosales in a press briefing in Camp Crame.

''That would be the future of policing, and this is our main objective, our dream,'' he added.

As such, Rosales said he will be meeting with the local chief executives in Metro Manila who won in the recent elections to discuss the installation of more CCTV in their jurisdictions.

Rosales said the installation of CCTV cameras may be one of the topics of discussion when he start making rounds to pay courtesy visits to the mayors of 16 cities and the town of Pateros in Metro Manila.

''This will among those will be taken during our meeting so that we can really push that effort of establishing or putting up CCTVs all over Metro Manila,'' said Rosales in a press briefing in Camp Crame.

He stressed that the presence of CCTV cameras will be very effective in preventing crime and tracking down perpetrators of crimes such as in the case of the identification and arrest of several robbery and criminal elements using the new technology.

At this early, Rosales expressed optimism that it would not be difficult to convince the elected Metro Manila mayors to support their plan since most of them won their re-election bid like Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Pasig City Mayor Bobby Eusebio, Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos and Caloocan City Mayor Recom Echiverri.
