SINGTEL group chief executive Chua Sock Koong's $2.7 million cash bonus swelled her pay last year to $4.15 million.

Ms Chua's 23 per cent pay hike - disclosed in SingTel's annual report for the 2010 financial year - delivered the CEO her biggest pay check since being appointed to the position in 2007.

That year , the 52-year-old made $3.57 million, but her pay fell to $3.38m last year on the back of a lower bonus.
Other senior SingTel executives also enjoyed bumper payouts for the last financial year. Its 49-year-old Australian unit Optus' chief executive, Mr Paul O'Sullivan, saw his pay rise a whopping 42 per cent to $3.48 million.
Mr O'Sullivan enjoyed a bonus of $1.8 million compared to $941,000 last year, but his boost was also due in part to the Australian dollar's appreciation against the Singapore dollar, given that SingTel reports executive salaries in Singapore dollars.

Mr Allen Lew, SingTel's chief executive for Singapore, was paid $2.88 million, up a relatively modest 17 per cent from the $2.46 million he got last year.
Outgoing chief executive for international, Mr Lim Chuan Poh, who retires at the end of the year, made $2.25 million - 23 per cent ahead of the $1.83 million the 55-year-old made last year.
SingTel announced that three independent directors, Mr Heng Swee Keat, Mr John Powell Morschel, and Mr Deepak S Parekh, will be retiring from its board at the coming annual general meeting on Jul 30.

Mr Heng, the managing director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, sits on its corporate governance and nominations, as well as compensation committees. The 49-year-old joined SingTel's board in 2003.

Mr Parekh, 65, is an independent director who was appointed in 2004 and serves on its compensation committee. He is the chairman of India's Housing Development Finance Corporation.
