News Update Bus Mishap Hurts 53 Subic Workers

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT - Around 53 employees of a shipbuilding facility were injured when their transport bus that was ferrying them to work Thursday morning veered off the road towards a phone line box and into a wired fence. Employees from Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction - Philippines (HHIC-Phil) were on their way to work around 5:45 a.m. when their WPH bus with plate number CXK-954 tried to overtake a vehicle in front of them when another vehicle was on the other lane.

The driver tried to elude the collision and overshot their lane, hitting a phone line box and subsequently hitting a chain link fence after turning to its side. Hanjin External Business General Manager Taek Kyun Yoo said around 34 employees were sent to the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH) but only two were admitted due to serious injuries.
