News Update Enjoys Fish Sufficiency

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union - The sufficiency of fish supply in Region 1, particularly bangus (milk fish), is 130-132 percent based on the latest evaluation of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) regional office here. Nestor Domenden, BFAR regional director, said that of the 130% supply, 40%-45% or around 120-160 metric tons of bangus were being supplied to Manila daily. "Our sufficiency level of fish supply as of last quarter is 132% and we are sustaining the daily requirement for Metro Manila," Domenden said. Domenden said that although there are several demolitions of illegal fish cages in Pangasinan, particularly Dagupan, the supply is still normal because the trend of production during this period is bigger compared to the previous bangus seasons.
