News Update Noynoy, Binay maintain lead in latest PPCRV count

Senator Benigno “Noynoy" Aquino III on Wednesday afternoon maintained his lead over former President Joseph Estrada in the presidential race, according to latest partial and unofficial count from the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).

As of 1:39 p.m., Aquino was ahead of Estrada by almost five million votes with 13,602,270 (41.8 percent) against the former leader’s 8,623,094 (26.5 percent).

The tally represented 88.64 percent (67,790) of the over 76,000 precincts nationwide.

Senator Manuel Villar Jr. placed third with 4,924,617 (15.13 percent) votes followed by administration bet Gilberto “Gibo" Teodoro Jr. with 3,626,438 (11.14 percent). Evangelist Eddie Villanueva came next with 1,011,475 (3.11 percent) while Sen. Richard Gordon got 462,189 (1.42 percent).

Villar, Teodoro, Villanueva and Gordon have conceded defeat to Aquino.

Nicanor Perlas, meanwhile, ranked 7th with 48,357 votes (0.15 percent) followed by Sen. Ma. Ana Consuelo “Jamby" Madrigal with 41,552 votes (0.13 percent).

John Carlos De Los Reyes, who had also conceded defeat to Aquino, was at the last spot with 39,552 (0.12 percent).

Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, meanwhile, remained on top among vice presidential candidates with 13,274,470 votes (40.79 percent), followed closely by Sen. Manuel Roxas with 12,481,973 (38.66 percent).

Sen. Loren Legarda, meanwhile, got 3,730,471 votes (11.46 percent) while Bayani Fernando got 926,530 (2.85 percent).

Administration bet Eduardo “Edu" Manzano placed fifth with 696,584 votes (2.14 percent) followed by Perfecto Yasay with 326,712 (one percent).

Completing the seven-way race were Jay Sonza with 56,900 votes (0.17 percent) and Dominador Chipeco with 46,774 (0.14 percent). —Nikka Corsino/KBK/RSJ
