Just Ask How Singapore fighting Dengue fever ?

Hi Romar when I was in primary school in the 70 as far as I remembered fighting Dengue is part of the ongoing programme in school and community, I guess the government in Singapore had fine tune the programme along the way to effectively reach out to different segments of the population, they works very closely with 3P (People-Public-Private Sectors) partners to jointly develop and roll out dengue prevention activities through various means.

The strategy in dengue control is to tackle the root of the problem, which is to deny Aedes mosquitoes the place to breed they called it source reduction This approach has been endorsed by WHO. The main thrusts in our approach are: 1. preventive surveillance and control; 2. public education community involvement; 3.enforcement and 4.research.
In Singapore the government is quite advertising and create awareness through education and awareness programme, Educational materials like posters,pamphlets/Booklets,Banners,Commercials,Mailers Video are circulating in the general population.

However, in Philippine I had yet to seen any TV media, banner, poster  to reach out to the public about dengue fever only sporadic mentioned in radio when they dengue. I hope the government will do more and set up a more robust first hand information sharing hot spot on dengue in Philippine. Easy say than done, involved  some of the telecommunication company Enterprises, governments and communities and set up an  SMS emergency response strategies in place to send information, connect people and save lives as parts of their dengue community programme.
