News update Abu Sayyaf beheads 2 in Basilan

The Abu Sayyaf bandit group has beheaded two men they abducted on Friday in Basilan, a belated police report said Saturday.

Two men, identified as Daduh Lumatang and Manuel Lumasag, were beheaded by the bandit group after they were kidnapped on Friday morning at the hinterlands of Sitio Pali, Barangay Abong-Abong in Maluso in Basilan, Senior Superintendent Antonio Mendoza of the Basilan provincial police reported Saturday.

The two men were reportedly towing lumber on Friday when they were taken by the bandits led by Puruji Indama, Mendoza added.

According to Mendoza, the decapitated bodies of the victims have been recovered but he did not specify where they found the corpses.
