News update Balanga launches laptops for teachers program

BALANGA CITY, Bataan - To help public school teachers here widen their scope of knowledge, the city government has come up with a subsidy and loan program for them to easily own a computer. Mayor Joet Garcia said that each public school teacher in the city can avail of a P5,000 grant plus a loan of P17,300, payable at zero interest, for the purchase of a laptop computer. Garcia said the program is aimed at helping teachers improve their teaching methods, gain access to updated information, and facilitate in their audio-visual presentations. An information technology (IT) expert himself, the mayor said there should be no limit to teachers' access to knowledge and that having state-of-the-art computers will allow them to impart relevant and modern information with their students. He said he hopes the program will encourage many teachers to use IT tools to their advantage and assist the city government in its vision to attain absolute computer literacy among its students.
