SINGER Ho Yeow Sun, who is married to the founder of City Harvest Church Kong Yee, was grilled for more than eight hours by police on Tuesday, The New Paper reported on Wednesday.
TNP said Ms Ho, 40, had flown in from the US on Monday, and was called in to assist police with their investigation into the finances of City Harvest Church. She was at the Police Cantonment Complex from about 10 am to 6.30pm and was questioned by officers from the Commercial Affairs Department.
Ms Ho, dressed in nondescript black and wore large shades even inside the building, declined to comment when asked by TNP about the investigation.
Police rounded up several individuals from City Harvest Church on May 31 for alleged misuse of church funds.
The 17 people who are 'assisting police with investigations' included the megachurch's founder and Senior Pastor Kong Hee. Police also took away financial records and computers from the homes and offices of the people involved. They did not say what offences they were investigating.
A joint statement by the Commissioner of Charities and the Commercial Affairs Department said they were investigating 'several individuals and companies, related or connected' to the church.
The Commissioner had received complaints of misuse of church funds. It looked into the matter and decided that the police should get into the picture.
Pastor Kong is one half of a prominent pair. His wife, Ms Ho Yeow Sun, is a pop-singer based in the United States.
