AN UNEMPLOYED man became the owner of a semi-automatic pistol when his friend, who was about to be arrested for drug offences, offloaded it on him a decade ago.
In July last year, Low Hua Choon took the pistol - which contained five rounds of ammunition - on a run to sell smuggled contraband cigarettes.
These details emerged on Wednesday, when the 41-year-old was convicted in a district court. He faces a jail term of between five and 20 years and at least six strokes of the cane under the Arms Offences Act.
