News update Makati Business Club exec confirms Cabinet post offer

An official of the influential Makati Business Club on Tuesday confirmed getting an offer from presidential front-runner Sen. Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III to join his Cabinet.

But while MBC executive director Alberto Lim refused to say what position Aquino had offered him, he said he was willing to take the chance to serve the country.

"Dapat naman, dapat tayo tumulong lahat sa kanyang kampanya na tanggalin ang corruption (We should, we should help him in his campaign to fight corruption)," Lim said in an interview on dwIZ radio.

While he initially dodged questions on whether he was offered a Cabinet post, he eventually replied, "meron din (I got an offer)."

The MBC was perceived to support Aquino in the presidential race.

Lim becomes the fourth "confirmed" member of Aquino's prospective official family, after Corazon Soliman (social welfare) and Teresita Deles (peace process adviser).

The third member of Aquino's prospective Cabinet is his longtime friend Paquito "Jojo" Ochoa, but Aquino has not decided yet whether he will appoint him as executive secretary, justice secretary, or chief presidential legal counsel.

On the other hand, Lim refused to answer directly when asked if he was being offered the Department of Trade and Industry or Department of Budget and Management.

He said it is up to Aquino to announce the details later.

"Dapat si President-elect Aquino dapat magsabi niyan (It should be up to President-elect Aquino to make the announcement)," he said.

Aquino had remained mum on his choices for Cabinet posts, after confirming his choices of Soliman and Ochoa. Deles had confirmed her appointment when interviewed by media. — LBG
