News update Construction of Agusan health facility underway

BUTUAN CITY - In its commitment to provide better health care to Agusanons, the provincial government of Agusan del Norte expedited the release of a P25 million budget for the construction of the new Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (CEMONC) facility under Phase 1-A at the side of the provincial hospital grounds in Barangay Libertad, this city, it was learned Saturday. The objective of the construction of the CEMONC is to improve the capability of the Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital (ADNPH) on maternal and child health care, it was also learned. The recent groundbreaking for the CEMONC was attended by no less than Department of Health (DoH) Secretary Esperanza I. Cabral. The CEMONC facility is a two-storey building composed of at least six private rooms, and two ten-bed capacity wards for the first floor and Operating Room/Delivery Room (OR/DR) complexes, plus a 32-bed OB-GYNE ward at the second floor, all with new sink and comfort rooms per ward. It was gathered that the construction of the CEMONC facility is expected to be finished next year. "Next year, we will be celebrating the 100th year of ADNPH and it is a long cherished dream of all Agusanons to upgrade our health care facilities here," said Agusan del Norte Gov. Erlpe John M. Amante. The provincial chief executive expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the national government for supporting the health program of the provincial government of Agusan del Norte. "We hope that the Department of Health will continue to support more of our health care projects in the near future," added Amante. "Health program is one of our priority projects," he added. Meanwhile, as a respond to the call of Agusan del Norte for an efficient and effective delivery of health care programs, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) will donate one unit of ambulance to the province under its Ambulance Donation Program, it was gathered. Two of the government hospitals in the province - the Jabonga Municipal Hospital and the Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital - are badly in need of new ambulances. These hospitals also serve residents in far-flung areas, thus the need of ambulances to fast-track the mobilization and delivery of patients. The ambulance will also be used in relief operations in time of emergencies all throughout the province, further added Amante.
