SINGAPORE consumers will be able to buy Apple's new iPhone 4 from all three mobile operators within the next few months - possibly as early as next month.
In separate announcements that came right after the official unveiling of Apple's fourth iteration of the sleek touch-screen handset, StarHub and M1 said yesterday they will have the handset on sale within the next few months.
SingTel too is 'in the final stages of discussions with Apple' to bring the iPhone 4 to Singapore, a spokesman said.
While none of the operators would elaborate on just how soon they will begin selling the thinner but more powerful handset, Apple chief executive Steve Jobs had in his unveiling of the iPhone 4 at the firm's annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco on Monday listed Singapore among the 17 countries receiving shipments next month.
Local pricing of the handset was unavailable, but the iPhone 4 is being priced at US$199 (S$280) to US$299 in five countries, including the United States, when it goes on sale this month.
But some analysts believe the telcos in Singapore may not engage in a price war to sign up customers.
