The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday recommended the declaration of failure of elections in four municipalities in Lanao del Sur in the southern Philippines due to the absence of the board of election inspectors (BEI) in these areas, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said.
These municipalities are Masiu, Lumba-Bayabao, Lumba-Unayan and Tubaran, according to Jimenez. The Comelec en banc will decide on the matter later in the day.
